Marsha P. Johnson

Marsha P Johnson, Chaz Howkins, 2018, pencil on paper

Marsha P Johnson (Digital), Chaz Howkins, 2018, pencil on paper and digital manipulation
A drawing created for International Women's Day after being inspired by the documentary The Death and Life of Marsha P Johnson.
Marsha P Johnson was an advocate for the rights of transgender women, particularly trans women of colour.  She spearheaded the Stonewall uprising in 1969 and has been credited for being the first person to throw a shot glass which instigated the original riot.  Marsha P Johnson had an incredibly important role in LGBT+ history and I wanted to pay a tribute to her in gratitude.

Proud: A Celebration Of Pride Exhibition

Two of my pieces in the exhibition
A small exhibition but still a good opportunity to have my work seen by a wider audience.
